Message to Parents:

The mission of Silver Valley Unified School District is to prepare students to be confident, collaborative and creative learners for success in a rapidly changing society. In that mission we are dedicated to all students achieving or exceeding proficiency in English Language Arts and Mathematics.  We are dedicated to providing appropriate academic, social/emotional and physical supports to students and families to ensure student success.

We believe……

  • Every student needs opportunities to explore, learn and develop academic skills that require critical thinking.
  • Every student deserves support to achieve academic success based on individual needs.
  • A safe supportive learning environment promotes student achievement
  • Partnerships with the broader community can enrich learning experiences for our students

Dear Fort Irwin Middle School Parents and Guardians,

As the new instructional leader at Fort Irwin Middle School, I would like to welcome you and your child(ren) to an exciting year of learning. As a new principal, I wanted to share a little background information with you. This will be my first year as principal of Fort Irwin Middle School. I previously worked as a teacher at FIMS during the 2012-2015 school years. I have been a military spouse for 18 years and worked in education for 13 years. Our military travels have afforded me the opportunities to teach in Oklahoma, Kentucky, Hawaii, California, and Germany. I have three children of my own, and I am fully aware of the challenges our students and families face. My children and I have decided to return to Fort Irwin while my husband awaits retirement in Germany. We believe that the Fort Irwin community is a great place to raise our children and live.

We will continue to work with our students using Positive Behavior Intervention and Support System (PBIS). Through PBIS all students will learn and follow, in all locations throughout the school, our school-wide expectations of being R.E.A.L. (Respect, Engage, Achieve, and Lead).  All students will learn through our school-wide PBIS kick off what the expectations are and how they can make their learning environment a place they feel safe and respected.

School hours are from 8:28 a.m. (1st Bell) to 3:05 p.m. Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday. School hours on Wednesdays are from 8:28 a.m. (1st bell) to 1:05 p.m. If you drop off your child or your child walks to school each morning, please note students are not allowed on campus until 8:00 a.m. If your child rides the school bus, the bus drops off at the school at 8:12 a.m. Please help us in promoting promptness and regular attendance for the school year by making sure your child arrives at school on time and attends regularly.

Again, I am so thrilled to return to the Fort Irwin Middle School community. If you have any comments, questions, or concerns throughout the school year, please do not hesitate to contact me at 760-386-1133 or by email at On behalf of the amazing Fort Irwin Middle School Team, I would like to wish all of you a wonderful year.
